Trying to find condos for rent in Myanmar?

When you’re thinking about renting a condominium apartment, there will be several things you should consider before starting your search. Firstly, there are two different variations of condos for rent. This could either be a mini-condo or a full condominium.

The general rule of thumb is that mini-condos will only have a backup generator for the lift, whilst a large condominium typically comes with a backup generator for inside the property. However, this isn’t always the case as some Condominiums give the Landlords the option to opt-in when purchasing the apartment, some Landlords won’t do this so it’s always best to ask.

Another point to consider is that mini condos are highly unlikely to come with any of the amenities and facilities that a standard condominium will have.

Where do I want to live?

When moving to Myanmar it’s vital to consider where you want to live. The most popular townships within the city for expats will be Bahan, Yankin, Downtown, Sanchaung & Mayangone.

What would my commute look like?

Your commute will vary a lot depending on which township you choose to live in. If you’re living in Bahan, it’s more than likely that you will drive or cycle to most places daily. If you’ve picked Sanchaung, there may not be a need for a car as most restaurants and shops are within walking distance.

How much should I budget?

Myanmar has something for everyone, depending on which area you’d like to live in will play a factor in the budget you’ll need. If you’re looking for apartments in Hlaing township, you’ll be able to pick up a modern apartment with good amenities starting at just $600 USD per month. However, if you’re looking for Bahan or Kamayut apartments will start from $1500 USD per month.

What’s the parking situation?

Parking is a big problem in Myanmar, especially if you’re living downtown, or in an apartment building. Condominiums will have sufficient car parking.
